Game 27338: petermock, Hokunda in 'Assassinate - Campaign Version'

- Hi Steve, I think Hokunda / Marsec should be allocated an extra faction player. He is fighting alone as he has a sleeping partner. I think the current system dishing out the faction numbers based on numbers of sectors isn't working. I think it needs to change to each faction getting the next new player so the factions have roughly similiar numbers. If a faction loses inactive players they would qualify for the next new player if their faction number had dropped the lowest. I know that the current system is trying to balance out sucess using a compensating principle but seems to punish success and reward mediocrity. If you could allow Hokunda the next available player it would improve this campaign and maybe we could make changes for the next campaign?

- I would like to have a break on the overstaffed faction's terrytoty gain pace. Globex now captures sectors as they are undefended faster than the amount of battles they play. It is not motivating to play a game again and again becquse the sector goes away without fight. Games can be slow. A week can simply pass during a game. Maybe rewtrict the number of sector w gainee for free based on the amount of games played between the he factions.

- You could ask Paasque to pull his finger out and do his bit? He has 18 men on holiday and could easily defend your threatened sectors. Remember to win you only need the 4 corners so not all sectors need to be kept intact.

- No worries mate you've done nowt wrong! Inactive players are meant to be automatically be removed from a faction. There has been some glitches regarding this in this campaign. Stellar Forces engine needs a little oil.

- I'll remove some expired players. As for a long-term solution, how about all factions have a fixed number of units, which gets divided between all the players in the faction? For example, we set the total number of units to (say) 50. A side with 5 players will have 10 units each, whilst a side with only one player gets 50 units. Also, I'll remove the restriction on a player being able to attack if they lose, and instead change it so that a sector can be re-invaded for 2 days once an mission has finished there. How does that sound?
- I still prefer each faction getting allocated a new member in turn to provide roughly the same amount in each faction. Then the system keeps topping the factions up on a needs basis as inactive players are removed. Your idea of the units as a balancing system will lead to massive inbalance as slow players are almost as bad inactive players. The other thing is most campaign players seem to like attacking and playing 2 or 3 sectors but we don't have the units to do that properly. Reducing units to 10 will make it less exciting and probably promote inactivity again. I like the idea of the campaign as decisive dynamic battle field but the lower unit allowance makes it slower and sluggish like postal chess. Removing the 2 day attack restriction penalty would be great as it is very unpopular and means other sectors can be fought.
With my idea of equal players in each faction, if due to drop outs and not enough replacements to balance up a faction with a low or single membership then a measure could be implemented as a request or automatically. That faction could receive more units than the other factions until a new player is added. With my idea each player gets 18 men each means we could fight 3 sectors averagely or 2 sectors properly. - The real slowdown is the continuous fight. Whenever a campaign game lasts, the dead units are replenished after finishing the game with 1 unit per day speed. If I have a game lasts for 30 days and I loose a battle where I loose 8 units, I can play my next game 8 days later.

- I agree. I don't like the 1 unit a day replenishment either. Way too slow.

- I've just had a look and it replenishes all units as soon as a player isn't playing a campaign game. I've removed this restriction though, so it replenishes all immediately. And also got rid of the 2-day block after losing.
- New players will now be added to the faction with the least current players. I've just noticed I'm the only one in my faction as well!
- Thanks Steve, that's great news! I am sure there will be some fine tunning needed at some point later but there's plenty to test out now.
