• Steve, as amazing as Stellar Forces is, I'm sure you will agree in admitting that the graphics are somewhat simplistic and obviously not your specialty. I don't know if you are aware of a guy called Niklas Jansson who has a web page specifically orientated on Rebelstar, Laser Squad and X-Com graphics called the "Rebel Squad Project". I've never spoken to the guy and his intentions are pretty unclear, but by his own admission the guy seems to lack focus (quote) "I have zero patience and too many projects."
  
  I don't know if this guy intends to create his own games or if he is simply touting his artistic skills in the hope that someone recruits him. As you will see his graphics are somewhat cartoony, but are very true to the original Rebelstar, Laser Squad and X-Com games and personally I rather like them. If you read his web page you will see he has some very interesting ideas on developing a game which while sounding quite different to Stellar Forces is still very intriguing.
  
  Anyway, maybe the two of you will be uninterested in working together but it seemed silly not to mention his site as I imagined the two of your combined skills and ideas would make one hell of an amazing game!

• It's a good idea. So good that I actually did email him several months ago! Not surprisingly I got no reply. :( The images do look good, but like you say they are a bit "cartoony" for my liking. I might try again soon, maybe the email got lost in his spam filter or something.

• Oh that's a shame. Yeah you should try again. They are cartoony, more cartoony then I ever would have imagined liking, but somehow they seem to fit.

• Steve, did you ever try again to contact Niklas Jansson?
  
  I've just found another website belonging to him. It has some useful Rebelstar Raiders data if nothing else.
